Tackling Climate

AGC is dedicated to combating climate change through ambitious net zero carbon goals, innovative technologies, products and sustainable manufacturing practices. By aligning with global frameworks such as the UN Global Compact, CDP, and TCFD, we ensure our strategies contribute to international sustainability efforts. Our initiatives focus on reducing carbon emissions across the manufacturing and supply chain, implementing practices that promote resource circularity.     Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. was established in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan

    The Founding Spirit of Asahi Glass Company was established: “Never Take The Easy Way Out, But Confront Difficulties”

    The Asahi Foundation was established to commemorate the company’s 25th anniversary

  • 1955

    Received the Deming Prize for adopting quality management practices.

  • 1957

    The Asahi Glass Scholarship Foundation was established to commemorate the company’s 50th anniversary.

  • 1992

    Blue Planet Prize was established by the Asahi Glass Foundation to recognize outstanding achievements in scientific research and its application that have helped provide solutions to global environmental problems.

    The Asahi Glass Co., Ltd group brand was unified as “AGC”

  • 2013

    AGC Group established its Regional Headquarters in Singapore as AGC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (AAP).

    AAP became a Corporate Member of the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC).

  • 2014

    AGC announced plans to reduce CO2 emissions sixfold by 2020 through energy-saving and energy-creating products.

    AGC’s glass products contributed to the zero-energy design of “Houses of 2030,” a project led by Japan’s Agency for Natural Resources and Energy.

    AAP served on the Technical Task Force subcommittee at SGBC.

    AAP’s office achieved the Singapore Green Mark for Interior Office certification from the Building Construction Authority (BCA).

  • 2015

    AAP hosted a project tour promoting sustainable materials at the Building & Construction Expo Asia (BEX Asia), organized by BCA and SGBC.

    AAP served on the Technical Committee under the Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD) and SGBC for the Energy Efficiency Building (EEB 2.0) project.

    AGC revised its corporate mission to: “AGC, an Everyday Essential Part of Our World.”

  • 2016

    AGC developed AMOLEA™, a new refrigerant grade with low global warming potential.

    AGC initiated the formulation of the AGC Group Corporate Governance Basic Policy.

    AAP was invited by the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) to be the Asia Pacific Network (APN) Regional Partner.

    AAP supported the BCA-Keppel Land Partnership Greenovate Programme, served as an SGBC Industrial Partner to mentor students from Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) in the competition.

    AAP received the BCA-SGBC Sustainable Leadership Award in the Green Products Category.

  • 2017

    AAP supported the Ground-up Initiative (GUI), helping its building achieve Singapore Green Mark platinum certification.

    AGC supported business partner Vector Foiltec in obtaining Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification for Texlon® membrane structure systems using AGC Fluon® ETFE Film.

  • 2018

    Asahi Glass Company changed its corporate name to AGC Inc.

    AGC announced its brand statement: “Your Dreams, Our Challenge.”

    AGC endorsed the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

  • 2019

    AAP shared AGC’s Zero Energy Building (ZEB) journey at various Southeast Asia Green Building Congresses.

    AAP hosted overseas delegates at BEX Asia, an event organized by BCA and SGBC.

    AGC supported its business partner in obtaining Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification for TensoSky® membrane structure systems using AGC Fluon® ETFE Film.

    AGC established the Sustainability Committee.

AGC Group established its Regional Headquarters in Singapore as AGC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (AAP) (2013).

AAP hosted a project tour promoting sustainable materials at the Building & Construction Expo Asia (BEX Asia), organized by BCA and SGBC (2015).

    AAP supported the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) Asia Pacific Network (APN) in formulating the Asia Pacific Embodied Carbon Primer Report.

    AGC formulated its long-term strategy, “Vision 2030,” including Sustainability Management, with a commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

    AAP supported the WorldGBC Asia Pacific Network (APN) in the formulation of the Net Zero Readiness Framework.

    P.T. Asahimas Chemical sponsored a mangrove plantation project in Indonesia.

    AGC was recognized with the highest rating of “A-List” for Climate Change by CDP.

  • 2022

    AGC Glass Asia obtained its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) verification for Flat Glass and Pyrolytic Coated Glass.

    AAP hosted the WorldGBC APN 20.22 Festival Resources & Circularity Webinar as part of the WorldGBC Circularity Accelerator.

    AAP supported the WorldGBC Asia Pacific Network (APN) in the formulation of the Network Net Zero Framework Knowledge Hub.

    AGC received certification from the SBTi for its “WB2°C” GHG reduction target.

  • 2023

    AGC exhibited SunEwat, a Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) solution, at the COP28 Japan Pavilion.

    AGC Glass Asia obtained its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) verification for Magnetron Coated Glass.

    SunEwat, a Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) glass, was adopted for “The Greenhouse” at Dulwich College (Singapore), contributing to Singapore’s first net zero international school building

    AGC Group reclassified its social values into “Blue Planet,” “Innovation,” and “Well-being” through its products and technologies.

    AAP engaged with the WorldGBC Asia Pacific Network (APN) on the formulation of the Resources & Circularity Framework.

    AGC architectural glass received the highest rating in the Leader category from the Singapore Green Building Products (SGBP) scheme for Stopray Vision 40T and Stopray Vision 52T.

    AGC architectural glass received the rating in the Very Good category for Mirox MNGE and Excellent category for Sunergy Cool (Laminated) from the Singapore Green Building Products (SGBP) scheme.

    AGC architectural glass received the highest rating in the Leader category from the Singapore Green Building Products (SGBP) scheme for Stopray Vision 38T.

  • 2024

    AGC Glass Asia obtained Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze for Float & Coated Glass and Mirox MNGE.

    AGC Glass Asia obtained its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) verification for Mirror and Painted Glass.

    AAP’s office achieved Singapore Green Mark for a Healthier Workplace certification.

    AAP supported the Singapore Sustainability Academy expansion project with its energy-efficient glass (STOPRAY DGU) and hyper-durable AAMA2605 fluoropolymer powder coat.
